Kelsey Nichols is a freelance costume designer. She received her M.F.A. in costume design from Indiana University in May 2016. She was the Fabric Specialist for the United States National Exhibit for the 2015 Prague Quadrennial. She recently spent two years as a designer in residence for Hale Centre Theatre as well as working full time crafting costumes when not designing. For Hale Centre Theatre: costume designer for Mary Poppins, Phantom, The Scarlet Pimpernel, costume design concept for Murder on the Orient Express, and quick change engineer for Cinderella. For Good Company Theater: costume design for I Am My Own Wife, In The Heights, and Marie Antoinette. For The Ziegfeld Theatre: costume design for Cabaret and Peter and the Starcatcher. For Juniata College Theatre: costume designer for Little Shop of Horrors. For IU Theatre: costume designer for Macbeth, Mr. Burns: a post-electric play, Into the Woods, Encounters and Collisions Contemporary Dance Concert (Tektonika Ondine), Pride and Prejudice, and Lacy and Ashley Live in a Trailer Now. For Indiana University Summer Theatre: costume designer for A Midsummer Night's Dream, costume shop assistant for the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons. She has worked on costumes for The Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre Company and the entertainment department at Lagoon Amusement Park and was the make-up designer for Lagoon’s 2012 Frightmares! season. She received her B.A. in technical theatre from Weber State University in May 2013 where she designed costumes for the U.S. premier of The Comedy of Oedipus. She is from Ogden, Utah.
When not working on productions, Kelsey enjoys baking creative and artistic pies, reading (especially young adult fiction), writing stories, spending time with her cat, and exploring foreign cities. She also teaches as an adjunct professor for the Department of Performing Arts at Weber State University.
